Research: Gil's PhD research focused on the study and development of new type of metal - air battery, based on Si as the anodic active material. He was a postdoctoral research associate with the group of Prof. Lynden A. Archer at Cornell University, where he studied electrochemical energy systems using more abundant lithium metal replacements, such as aluminum and sodium.
Gil Cohn's current research is on determining ORR rates and mechanisms of a variety of SOFC cathode materials through 16O/18O isotope exchange heterogeneous catalysis techniques.
